As our country struggles to fight SARS-CoV-2, the deadly virus causing the COVID-19 pandemic and businesses look to recover and restore confidence for customers and workers, OLS is launching a new service to help our clients make their spaces safer to do business. E-TAC DECON fits right in with OLS’s mission statement to put people and planet first by keeping people safe from the potential harm that can be caused by viruses and other microbial enemies.
The E-TAC DECON – “Give Your Environment the ALL CLEAR” slogan, means a lot to us. With our business clients in mind, we at OLS took the time to research and connect with industry experts to understand how to best destroy infectious agents safely and efficiently. E-TAC is the result of our research and collaboration. While the ‘E’ in E-TAC stands for your environment, it also stands for ELECTRIC. One of the most innovative components of our treatment process is that as a fine mist of anti-microbial solution is deployed from our sprayers, it’s given a positive static charge. Like a magnet, the charged solution naturally seeks a bond with a negatively-charged surface; which keeps the solution from pooling (positive droplets repel each other) and forms evenly on surfaces giving 360-degree coverage, even blanketing porous surfaces and finding it’s way into the tightest of nooks and crannies. The benefits are clear: excellent coverage, speed of treatment and lowest possible volume of solution needed while still providing thorough coverage of all surfaces.
The chemistry involved in our process is the next most important piece of the comprehensive solution. The disinfectant deployed by our sprayer is on the EPA’s ‘List N: Disinfectants for use Against SARS-CoV-d’ which also notes that all products on the list will work to kill the virus that causes COVID-19. Specifically, our disinfectant is certified to kill the poliovirus within 5 minutes. This list is also the same that CDC recommends for finding disinfectants against COVID-19. Also, important is that the chemical is deployed a volume that is completely safe for humans; even while it’s being sprayed a respirator and other protective gear are not required. The solution’s dry time is only 10 minutes and it leaves behind almost no smell or residue. The solution is so safe that even when used on food preparation surfaces; those surfaces do not need any additional wipe down before placing food on them. While it’s not absolutely necessary, having E-TAC deployed at least an hour before the start of business will further ensure that any irritating smell is well dissipated before workers and customers enter the environment.
